Summer 2025 has come to an end — but the journey to protect children from drowning continues. With the generous support of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) / Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), Hue Help successfully implemented the 2025 Swimming For Safety in Hue City and the districts of Phong Dien, Quang Dien, and Huong Tra, through two key activities: training swimming instructors and providing safe swimming classes for children.

👩🏫 34 TEACHERS COMPLETED TRAINING
Hue Help invested in long-term sustainability through capacity building for swimming instructors.
From June 16–21, 2025, with support from CTFK/GHAI, Hue Help collaborated with the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City to organize a Professional Training Course for Swimming Instructors for 34 teachers from Hue City, Huong Tra, Quang Dien, and Phong Dien.
During the training, teachers were equipped with:
- Swimming, rescue, and first aid skills
- Teaching methodologies for beginner swimmers
- Techniques to organize safe, effective, and child-friendly swimming classes
All teachers successfully passed both theoretical and practical final assessments, qualifying them to directly implement safe swimming programs and contribute to reducing drowning incidents among children in the coming years.

🏊♂️ 810 CHILDREN EQUIPPED WITH SURVIVAL SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY SKILLS
In summer 2025, 810 children participated in 16 safe swimming classes held at school and community swimming pools.
Children learned essential skills, including:
- Building confidence in the water
- Pushing off, gliding, coordinating arm–leg movements, and breathing techniques
- Swimming styles: front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke
More importantly, the program placed strong emphasis on water survival skills, such as:
- Back floating
- Treading water
- Jellyfish float
- Land-based rescue skills
95% of children (777/810) successfully met all final course requirements, including floating on their back for 90 seconds and swimming at least 25 meters. These are not just numbers — they represent lives better protected from the risk of drowning.

❗ DON’T STOP — DROWNING REMAINS A SERIOUS RISK
Drowning remains one of the leading causes of child death in Vietnam. Drowning accidents can happen at any time in anywhere. Many children in Hue and across Vietnam still lack access to safe swimming lessons and water survival skills.

🤝 JOIN HANDS TO EXPAND ‘SWIMMING FOR SAFETY’
Hue Help calls on organizations, individuals, and local authorities to take action together. Let’s bring the Swimming For Safety to more children — so every child can be safe in and around water. Together, we are building not just swimmers — but safer communities and protected lives.
