During 2024, Hue Help has been working with two main sponsors which are Campaign For Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) and Laguna Lăng Cô Sustainability Development Fund to teach 810 children and 180 children on survival swimming respectively.
Under the sponsorship of CTFK – The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), Hue Help cooperated with Thua Thien Hue Department of Education and Training to organize safe swimming classes for 810 children this summer. All swimming classes took places at 10 swimming pools around Thua Thien Hue. They started in late May – early June and finished in mid July. In the final test, more than 92% of the students could perform back float for 90 seconds and swim for 25m. In addition, the children were also equipped with land-based rescue skills and other essential survival skills.
Under the sponsorship of Laguna Lăng Cô Sustainability, nearly 180 students had the chance to learn swimming, survival skills and land-based rescue skills. All the lessons took place at a beautiful beach with clear water called Binh An in Phu Loc district. Through the final assessment test, more than 80% of children could swim 25m and 100% of children could float on their back for 30 seconds. This is the result of continuous efforts from all swimming teachers and students. Students who did not pass the final test will be provided additional training from the teachers.
Hue Help would like to send our sincere thanks to our sponsors, swimming teachers and stakeholders for joining hands to prevent child drowning in Vietnam! We hope the kids will have a safe and fun summer on the beaches, rivers, and streams!
Together we can make a difference. There is still a lot to do to help Vietnamese children prevent themselves from drowning!
