Hue Children’s Shelter – Youngsters enjoy a great Summer Trip to Cham Island while Three Older Children pass their University Entrance Exams

In July we took the kids from Hue Children’s Shelter to the Cham Islands, a small group of islands off the coast of central Vietnam classed as a marine park and recognised by UNESCO as a  “Biosphere.”

The kids enjoyed a boat trip around the island, played on the beach and snorkelled in the sea. They had a whale of a time (see our short video on Facebook)! We’re sure they’ll be talking about this one for a while to come. Huge thanks to Kees for helping fund the outing and to Cong for helping organise the activities.

Plus fantastic news. Three older children have just passed their University entrance exams. They have secured places to study forest land management, graphic design and English at universities in Hue. Their hard work and commitment has paid off and we are delighted to build on the success of the small number of other children from the shelter who have been able to go to university. Without the educational and other support you have helped us provide, a university place would have been beyond the reach of these young people. We took them out for lunch on 6 August to celebrate. Hue Help will be supporting their university fees throughout their study.
